Simplified 8-Bit Floating-Point Adder

Simplifications:

• No special numbers (NaN, Inf, denormals)
• Both operands are positive (sign=0)
• No rounding: simple truncation
• Format: value = (-1)^s * 1.mant * 2^(exp-3)

Algorithm:

1. Extract exponents and mantissas (add implicit 1)

2. Align: right-shift the mantissa of the smaller exponent

3. Add aligned mantissas

4. Normalize: if mantissa overflow, right-shift and increment exponent

5. Recompose the result
